Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Naivasha branch has welcomed the extension of the standard gauge railway to the lakeside town, saying it will boost business and create jobs.

Chairperson Esther Nyokabi hit out at those opposed to the railway, saying they are a hindrance to the implementation of the Jubilee manifesto.

Nyokabi said they are fully behind the project. She said women will benefit a lot from the railway.

“We want more projects to be implemented in Naivasha,” Nyokabi said. She spoke during a leaders’ meeting on business opportunities for women and other classified groups at the Naivasha county assembly chambers.

The meeting was organised by local Jubilee Party interim officials.

It brought together more than 300 leaders. Nakuru county Jubilee coordinator James Karimi attended the event and urged party supporters to shun violence.
