Nominated Senator Joy Gwendo expressed disappointment after Deputy President William Ruto failed to show up for a fundraiser for cotton farmers in Kisumu East subcounty on Sunday.
Ruto sent Agriculture CS Willy Bett, who brought the DP’s Sh 1 million donation for the Cotton Growers Cooperative Society. Gwendo said farmers and the residents attended the meeting expecting to see Ruto. “We happily received the contribution, but we are disappointed he did not attend,” she said.
Gwendo said the residents are ready to welcome Ruto any time. Bett said Ruto was attending urgent meetings, but he is always ready to visit the region.
