A man in Kajiado county committed suicide after allegedly attacking his wife with a kitchen knife on Monday morning.

Neighbours

said Paul Nginyo, 45, had an argument with the woman after arriving at their Kibiku home in Ngong at about 1am.

He ran a transport business in Ngong town.

The neighbours said the quarrel ended but that they found the wife lying unconscious on the floor and Nginyo's body hanging from a tree in the morning.

Resident Henry Kinuthia said the couple often had disagreements and that the man had turned to

chewing miraa and smoking.

“What we established is that the man attempted to kill his wife with the knife," said Kinuthia.

"After stabbing her several times, he thought she had died so he stabbed himself then committed suicide. We were woken up by crying children."

He said the woman was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital.
