Police in Kisumu have recovered four illegal guns and more than 90 bullets from gangsters in six weeks.
County commissioner Mohammed Maalim commended security teams for measures they implemented to ensure the safety of residents.
He spoke on Thursday during the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kenyatta Sports Grounds, Kisumu.
On Thursday night, a wanted criminal was arrested after a botched carjacking on the Obunga estate.
Maalim said five other suspects escaped during the shoot-out and some had bullet wounds. “We are interrogating the suspect and he will help us to arrest his accomplices,” he said.
This comes barely a week after police gunned down four suspected gangsters and arrested an accomplice in Kisian.
