Politicians in Homa Bay have been warned against early campaigns as they can heighten the political temperature.

County commissioner Kassim Farrah and Deputy Governor Hamilton Orata said premature campaigns are polarising the county before elections.

They spoke on Thursday during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Homa Bay Stadium.

Farrah said he has directed security teams to monitor politicians’ comments.

Early campaigns interfere with development as they divert people’s attention from growing wealth, he said.

“We’ve put a stop to early campaigns in Homa Bay and whoever goes against it will be arrested and charged,” Farrah said.
