Migori Governor Okoth Obado was forced to cancel his flight to Nairobi after Fly540 delayed its flight from Kabunde airstrip in Homa Bay on Friday.

The governor was forced to postpone a meeting he had scheduled in Nairobi from 12 noon.

This was after he and passengers lined up for the 7am flight were told that the plane could not take due to some mechanical problem.

"I have been forced to cancel my trip to Nairobi for an important meeting with donors and other governors," he said.

Homa Bay deputy governor Hamilton Orata was also caught up in the delay. He later travelled to Kisumu for an alternative flight to Nairobi.

"I have been forced to travel to Kisumu. We were promised that another plane would come but this took hours," Orata said.

Philanthropist Stanley Kamau of Ahadi Kenya and former miss Kenya Cecilia Mwangi were also affected by the delay.

The two were to donate ambulances to three counties but the delay affected their schedule.

The hitch comes in the wake of passengers being stranded at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after Kenya Airways cancelled flights.
