Kanu secretary general Nick Salat has urged Deputy President William Ruto to run for President next year.
“Go for it. We have no more debts with anyone,” he said.
Salat said since the community supported President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013, Ruto should ask for the Kikuyus support in 2017.
He spoke at Koibeyon AGC in Bomet East on Sunday during a fundraiser.
The Jubilee Party has already picked Uhuru as its flagbearer for next year. Ruto will run for President in 2022.
In July, the Deputy President urged Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to support his presidential bid in 2022.

Salat termed Friday’s remarks by Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, that he was the acting President, an “abomination”.
He said Sonko’s remarks during a funeral in
Machakos county amounted to disrespect for the Office of the President.
Salat said leaders should respect the presidency, as the topmost office in the land. He said if this is not checked, it might evolve into “something bad”. Salat said the government should not ignore the remarks.
“The President’s seat is sacred and if what we are witnessing is anything to go by, then we are almost asking ourselves who is the President of this country?” Salat said.

“The other time it was a singer sitting on the President’s seat, which has never happened before.” He said Uhuru should rise to the occasion and protect the presidency.
The harambee was attended by Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto, Kenya National Union of Teachers secretary general Wilson Sossion and chairman Mudzo Nzili, John Matiang’i (national treasurer) and Kuppet secretary general Akello Misori.
