Cord leader Raila Odinga heads to Kisii tomorrow to meet the youth. He will be at the Gusii Stadium for the #KIKAO045, which will be hosted by Governor James Ongwae.

Kikao is a forum that seeks to engage the young people to find solutions to their problems through mentorship and training. This will be the third edition of the consultative forum, which first took place in Mombasa and Kakamega counties.

Governors Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Evans Kidero (Nairobi), John Nyagarama (Nyamira), Jack Ranguma (Kisumu), Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay), Okoth Obado (Migori) and Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega) are among county chiefs expected to attend.

In a video posted online, Raila says, “I hope to have a conversation with the youth of Kisii, a fatherly discussion on issues affecting them, regional and national issues. Issues of importance to the Kenyan youth in general will be discussed.”

“The conversation will be engaging and entertaining. I expect the youths to ask me questions and I will also ask them questions. It will be a conversation between me and you.”

A statement from Ongwae’s office says 3,000 youths from 45 wards have been invited. “Local and national motivation speakers are also expected to talk to the youths,” he said.

Ongwae said the forum will seek to encourage the youth to take an active role in the county development.

The event’s theme is ‘Empowering the Youth in Development’. Raila’s visit is seen as a bid to consolidate his support base.

His visit comes barely a week after DP William Ruto visited the county.
