Driver of killer Rongai bus surrenders to police, faces murder charges

The driver of the killer Ongata Rongai matatu that overturned and left five people dead on Langata Road, Nairobi has been arrested.

Francis Mukuria alias Ambulance surrendered to the police on Sunday after he was informed the officers who were looking for him had visited his house.

He is accused of causing death by dangerous driving following the September 25 accident.

Mukuria has been on the run since then. His employer had until Friday this week to produce him or face prosecution.

He is set to appear in Kibera court to face the charges.

Multimedia University students

blocked Magadi Road on Tuesday to protest the death of their colleague in the said accident.

The protest forced more commuters to trek to their destinations as the NTSA revoked the licences of more than 100 matatus following the accident.
