[VIDEO] Joho prepares for Kisumu rallies with 100 ODM-branded vehicles

More than 100 ODM-branded vehicles received deputy party leader Hassan Joho on Friday as he set out to inspect Kisumu county in readiness for planned weekend rallies.

The Mombasa Governor traversed the city from the Kisumu International Airport to the CBD as fans gathered on the roadside, waving and cheering.

While addressing gathered crowds, Joho said ODM intends to sell its agenda and ideas across the country.

"We should move together towards achieving our main goal of 2017," he said.

Joho is expected to meet area MCAs together with ODM leader Raila Odinga later in the evening.

The meeting is expected to set out various party policies and prepare members for Raila's presidential campaign.

On Saturday, party leaders will meet with more than 400 delegated at CITAM hall before a major roadshow that will culminate in a rally at Kirembe grounds.

Kisumu Central ODM treasurer Edward Ogola said the rally will be attented by both supporters and area leaders, including MPs and governors from Nyanza and Western regions.

Nyanza Police Boss Willy Lugusa said his security team is already set to ensure the event runs smoothly.

“ODM has been cooperative with us and the supporters and leaders should be assured of security,” said Lugusa.

Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma warned local politicians against using the anticipated ODM rally to settle their own scores He said the event will be a platform for consolidating the party support and not campaigning for 2017 elections.

Ranguma urged the party supporters to ensure they observed peace during the rally.

Other governors expected to attend Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay), Cornel Rasanga (Siaya)

and Busia’s Sospeter Ojaamong.

Others in the team will be Senators Anyang' Nyong’o (Kisumu), James Orengo (Siaya), Moses Kajwang' (Homa Bay) Agnes Zani (nominated), and Elizabeth Ongoro (nominated).

Also gracing the event are party national Chairman John Mbadi, MPs Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Elijah Memusi (Kajiado Central), Millie Odhiambo (Mbita) and Woman reps Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi) and Mishi Mboko (Mombasa).
