MPs were yesterday told the Treasury will ensure Sh25 billion allocated for CDF in the 2016-17 financial year is disbursed before December.

National Assembly CDF Committee chairman Moses Lessonet said the Treasury has already released Sh8 billion to the CDF Board to implement projects in all 290 constituencies. “The Treasury has shown willingness and commitment to disburse Sh25 billion before December.Every constituency will receive Sh81 million as an equal share under the new CDF law,” he said.

Lessonet said the CDF board is waiting for project proposals from the constituencies, will then “promptly” disburse the money to constituency committees.

He said 45 constituencies have received 50 per cent of last year’s CDF allocation, while 163 have received at least 90 per cent of the allocation.
