Kenyan legislative has been urged to assign 30 per cent of state corporation and private company board seats to women.

A research conducted by the Kenya Institute of Management places says women in Kenya occupy only Kenyan women 20 per cent of board seats with the current women population in the country slightly above 50 per cent.

‘’Such a law would help give women key decision making roles and work to the full advantage of the institutions that embrace them by exposing them to a wider pool of talent and ideas,’’ said Virtual HR managing director Gladys Ogallo.

Among the reasons cited as cause of the problem are long nomination processes and patriarchal traditions.
