The government is building structures to secure its borders to reduce illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing, Agriculture ministry director of Fisheries Harrison Karisa has said.

He said an offshore patrol vessel will be built in Mombasa to monitor Kenya's territory.

Karisa spoke on Saturday after presiding over a ceremony where the Kenya Coastal Development Project presented Sh2.2 million goats to the Waata community in Taita Taveta.

The project is funded by the World Bank.
