Cotu boss Francis Atwoli has challenged Jubilee government to show Kenyans what it has achieved for the four years it has been in office.

Atwoli told President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto to stop lying to Kenyans that they have completed many projects since they were elected.

He accused Uhuru and Ruto of taking credit of the projects which were initiated by Grand Coalition government steered by former President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Atwoli cited the standard gauge railway and roads among others, which he said were of the previous government, and not Jubilee as has been claimed by the Uhuru Administration.

"I want to tell them that they will not fool Kenyans forever. They need to publicise the projects they have truly achieved. Most of the roads were done during Kibaki and Raila tenure," he said.

Atwoli made the comments during the burial of former Nyakach MP and trade unionist Dennis Akumu at Koguta in Kisumu county at the weekend.

The secretary general also took issue with Uhuru and Ruto that the newly launched Jubilee Party will usher in an era of Kenyan unity.

Atwoli further accused the two of trying to create a monolithic party state with the merger of several parties into .

He said the government has failed Kenyans due to massive corruption, high cost of living, poor working conditions and bad leadership.

Atwoli questioned where money given to Jubilee Party delegates was sourced, noting that such funds could have been obtained from public coffers.

He pointed at development, saying the government was crippling efforts to fast-track the devolution process by inadequately providing cash to governors.

Atwoli blamed the government for failing to address the plight of workers.

"We will not support Jubilee if they don’t listen to our views. Trade unionists will work with leaders who have workers' needs at heart," he added.

He said: "In 2017, we will sit down as unionists to come up with a road map for our members to ensure our interests are well taken care of,"

Atwoli further expressed concern over early campaigns, which he said will derail the country’s economy from the current 5 per cent downwards.

He further told off DP Ruto over the assertions that he will be the automatic Presidential candidate in 2022.

"There will be various political realignments and if anybody thinks that he or she will be given a political seat by others, then such person must be very ignorant," he said.

"It is God who elects the President," he said, "If my friend Ruto is waiting to be given the seat 'pole sana' (sorry for him),"

Knut secretary general Wilson Sossion also faulted the government for failing to address the problems of ordinary citizens.

He noted that the jubilee government is full of public gimmick at the expense of Kenyans who are yearning for better living standards.

Sossion said:

"Trade unionists will gang against bad leadership until the time Kenyans will realize change that they have yearned for decades,".

He added that he will continue to fight for the rights teachers and other workers in the country.

They eulogised the late Akumu as a patriotic and committed leader who fought hard for the rights of Kenyans.
