My life is in danger, says Nairobi assembly speaker Ole Magelo

Nairobi county assembly speaker Alex ole Magelo on Friday said his life is in danger.

Magelo told the Star that he received a short text message that read: "Uko mjanja but hesabu kuanzia leo, siku tatu hazitaisha kama hujawekwa futi sita chini".

This loosely translates to: "You purport to be clever but beginning today, three days will not lapse if you have not been buried six feet under the ground."

He said the message was sent from 0701886206.

The Speaker said recorded a statement at Parliament police station for investigations to be conducted.

"I have wronged no one for them to threaten me. It's not a laughing matter and I cannot entertain threats on my life," he said.

MCAs said they had drafted an impeachment motion against Governor Evans Kidero and Magelo.

Minority leader Abdi Guyo on Wednesday said already 65 signatures have been collected against the speaker and 60 against the governor.

"I am the one moving the motion against the speaker, the one against the governor has been done by a Cord member." Guyo said.

He said he wants Magelo impeached for indecisiveness, incompetence, and lack of leadership.
