Agencies involved in the construction of the Southern bypass have been restrained from evicting the Nubian community living in Kibera.

High court judge Samson Okongo directed the Kenya urban road authority, Attorney General, National Lands Commission, Nema and the contractor H. Young Company not to evict the community from various plots in the area due to the construction of a road.

Those affected reside at Lindi - plot 40, 41 all through Mashimoni to plot 106 at Kambi Aluru.

The Nubians told the judge the road construction is being done without their knowledge and participation which amounts to an infringement of their rights.

The case will be heard on October 18.
