A motion seeking to remove from office will be tabled before Parliament on Tuesday afternoon.

Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma who is set to table the impeachment motion said Wario should be sent home over the

over the mess in the just concluded Rio Olympics.

Kaluma said that he has collected 127 signatures from his colleagues supporting the motion to oust the CS for "incompetency and gross misconduct" in managing Team Kenya athletes during the Olympics.

"All sports departments including volleyball, football, Athletics Kenya, National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOCK) among others are under his charge,” Kaluma

said.

"Under his watch, he has allowed corrupt practices by NOCK and multi-sectoral parties running sports. It is incompetency surmounting to gross misconduct and unethical," he added.

Pressure has been mounting on Wario to resign for the mishandling of the athletes despite him disbanding the National Olympic Committee last week.

The directorate of criminal investigations also grilled the cabinet secretary over complaints there were joyriders to the Rio Olympics, theft of athletes uniforms, inaccurate accreditation and fraud in ticketing.

Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba and the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka over the weekend demanded for Wario's resignation.

The House is required to discuss the motion within seven days once tabled.

Should one-third, equivalent to 117 MPs support it, the house will set up a select committee to probe claims levelled against Wario.

added his motion is not a Cord plot to rock President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration or Cabinet but to ensure the right person serves the country. He revealed several Jubilee MPs have also signed the motion.

“If Wario is a patriot he should just resign. There are so many people who can run the sector. All sectors of sports are collapsing and struggling. Several Jubilee MPs have signed because we are not looking at Jubilee or President Kenyatta. We are looking at the competency of a minister to serve the nation,” Kaluma said.

But, the Star has learnt that Kaluma will hand the motion to Cherengany MP Wesley Korir to move it in the House to avoid any possible assertion that it is the opposition’s agenda.

Korir was part of the team Kenya athletes and has been calling for the resignation of Wario over the Rio Olympics fiasco.
