The glory of the Kenyan team at Rio, Brazil, during the just concluded Olympic Games was overshadowed by corruption, National Assembly Labour and Social Welfare Committee chairman David Were has said.

Were, who led MPs to Rio, said a good team was selected in Eldoret in July, but problems that arose in Rio were due to confusion from NOCK.

He accused the National Olympics Committee of composing a team of joyriders.

Were blamed NOCK assistant treasurer and chief de mission Stephen Soi of playing a one-man show at the Olympics.

“This man controlled everything and where he was absent, nothing could take place. That was the beginning of the problems for Team Kenya. He ran the show and other officials cowered at the mention of his name,” Were said.
