Form four student in hospital after failed suicide attempt

A form four girl was admitted in serious condition at the Naivasha subcounty hospital on Sunday following a failed suicide attempt.

According to a witness, James Kigo, the 18-year-old had fallen out with her boyfriend and decided to drink a pesticide in their home in Kirasha village in Kinangop.

“The parents were attracted by screams from the house and on checking, found her foaming and vomiting before rushing her to

hospital,” he said.

The hospital's superintendent Joseph Mburu termed the girl's condition as serious but stable.

Cases of suicide in Kinangop area have been on the rise.

Last week, a 60-year-old man committed suicide in Magumu area after falling out with the wife.

On Saturday, another

man killed himself in Maraigushu village, a few kilometres from Naivasha town.

The 28-year-old quarry worker was found hanging from a tree a few metres from the parents’ house.

Hours earlier, the deceased had visited his aging parent with goodies and excused himself only

to commit suicide.

A neighbour who declined to be named said that the man had visited his parents seeking some assistance before walking out in a huff.

Area Chief Peter Irungu said the deceased did not leave behind a suicide note.
