The organisers of the Mombasa International Agricultural Show of Kenya say they hope this year’s event will boost tourism and agriculture. The show will be from August 31 to September 4. Thousands of Kenyans from the Coast and upcountry are expected to attend, ASK chief executive officer Batram Muthoka said yesterday.

The show has always attracted domestic tourists as it is organised during the August school holidays. Muthoka said, “We will combine agriculture and tourism in this year’s event to boost these two sectors of the economy.” He said the show will provide information on new certified seed varieties and other technological advances.

Some 167 exhibitors have confirmed participation, up from 150 last year. Fifteen of the exhibitors are international companies from Tanzania, Uganda and Turkey, Muthoka said. Others include Ketraco, Kemsa, Base Titanium, ERC and the IEBC.
