Quack gynecologist Mugo wa Wairimu was yesterday remanded for 10 days pending a ruling on whether his bond will be cancelled.

The prosecution said Mugo skipped court sessions and intimidated witnesses through posts on social media.

Eddie Kadede, from the DPP’s office, urged the court to cancel Mugo’s bail terms. Mugo was released after paying Sh1 million bail.

The prosecution said Mugo has been posting court proceedings on his social media accounts as a way to intimidate witnesses.

Mugo is charged with rape, operating a clinic without licences and masquerading as a gynecologist.

‘’The conduct of the accused has been wanting as he was required to attend court on July 11 but failed to appear as directed, prompting the court to issue a warrant of arrest against him,” Kadede said.

Through his lawyer Mbiyu Kamau, Mugo asked the court to dismiss the application. He tabled medical documents from Milan health Clinic saying he skipped court because he was sick.

But the prosecution said the documents are suspicious because the clinic he purported to have visited is a maternity clinic. The documents were also not stamped.

Mugo has denied the 12 counts leveled against him. A man who appeared to be Muga was caught on tape last year sedating and raping a patients at Prestige Clinic in Githurai 44 estate, Nairobi.

He was arrested in Limuru and arraigned in court on September 11 .
