Amani leader Musalia Mudavadi today will address the Vihiga assembly for the first time.

Majority leader Festus Girure said MCAs are happy the Vihiga-born politician accepted their invitation. “It has been four years since Mudavadi spoke at the National Assembly when he was Deputy Prime Minister. His speech comes at a time when there are a lot of expectations as elections draw closer,” he said in Mbale town on Tuesday.

“Mudavadi being the senior-most politician from this county, we expect to learn a lot from his address.”

Girure urged Mudavadi to work with other leaders “to remove Jubilee from power”.

He urged the ANC leader to address the gains of devolution.

Girure and minority leader Wilberforce Kitiezo dismissed claims MCAs invited Mudavadi to appease him.

This is after ANC secretary general Godfrey Osotsi asked ward representatives to clarify whether they are loyal to Mudavadi or Governor Moses Akaranga, who is affiliated to Jubilee.

Twenty-five MCAs are in UDF, 13 in ODM, one in Ford Kenya and one in the Progressive Party of Kenya.

Kitiezo called for unity among Western residents.

Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula are battling for supremacy in Western.

Wetang’ula on Saturday skipped a meeting to discuss Luhya unity in Khwisero, fueling speculation that he could be losing clout in the region.

But Wetang’ula denied this. “How do I get isolated by not going to a harambee? I was invited and I declined to go,” he said. Wetang’ula said he had another event to attend.

The Khwisero meeting was hosted by Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli. Wetang’ula has urged Cord co-principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka to let him be the party’s presidential flagbearer.
