Motorists using Ngong Road have been warned of traffic disruptions on Wednesday following the launch of a new carriageway by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The President is scheduled to commission the construction of a dual carriageway between the National Library and Ring Road from 10 am.
Phase one of the road's expansion will cover some 2.6km in a bid to ease traffic on the road.
Later in the day, Uhuru will officially open the Southern bypass interchange from 11.30 am.
Police asked motorists who may be in a hurry to seek alternative routes.
Ngong Road's expansion started in April after the contract was awarded to World Kaihatsu Kogyo Ltd, a Japanese-based construction company.
