Cash strapped Vimbwanga Football Club, who were detained in Isiolo, are finally free after being

bailed out by local politicians thanks to their Likoni Member of Parliament Masoud Mwahima and Mombasa County Women representative Mishi Mboko.

Mwahima and Mboko secured the release of the team after sending donations amounting to Sh 30,000 upon learning, from the media, the club were stuck in Isiolo after weekend matches in Kenya’s North Eastern region.

Confirming the receipt of the donations, a delighted

club chairman Mohammed Bakari Mwambindo thanked the politicians for the support during their hour of need.

“We wish to send our deeply felt appreciation to our area Member of Parliament Hon Masoud Mwahima and County Women representative Hon. Mishi Mboko for their kind donation. Through their donations we have been able to

settle the hotel bill. We are now free,”

Vimbwanga had been detained by the management of the Iqra Hotel after failing to pay their accommodation and meal bills.

The FKF Division Two league side had had a successful outing

beating Al Azizia 4-0

on Saturday in Meru and edging Taqwa 3-2 on Sunday in Isolo.

Their celebration was however cut short after being informed by the hotel management that they

could not leave the hotel until they fully settled their outstanding hotel bill.

Yesterday the club chairman disclosed the team had checked out and were heading to Nairobi where they will connect to Mombasa by road.
