Florence Mutua wants Western leaders to endorse Cord leader Raila Odinga as 2017 presidential candidate.

The Busia woman representative said Raila deserves a stab at the presidency before backing a candidate from Western in 2022.

"My question is...why can't all endorse Raila and fully support him from their perceived bases?," asked Mutua.

"Raila will endorse them in 2022 and then bless them with his voters," she added in a statement on Tuesday.

Mutua said the opposition leader should be given the mantle to face President Uhuru Kenyatta in the poll scheduled for August 8.

The legislator said it would be unfair for ODM to work hard only to give its votes to aspirants whose stance in the national political scene is not known.

"How do we know they will not backtrack and support Jubilee should Raila endorse them?" she posed.

Mutua further said Raila's supporters were not ready to take any chances next year.

"Raila has and will be on the ballot. Let all aspirants work as hard as he is doing all over the country," she said.

"The Cord leader owes no one any favour as some are stating; the script that Raila has lost three times hence can't win, is a Jubilee mindset being used to make our supporters lose hope."
