Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has invited disgruntled Jubilee leaders fearing lack of democracy to join Cord.

Kalonzo said many leaders were likely to leave the coalition for fear of being rigged out during nominations.

He said he and fellow Cord co-principals

Raila Odinga and Moses Wetang'ula will be ready to receive the politicians when Jubilee Party is officially launched in September.

“Half of Jubilee Party leaders will join us. We in Cord will remain united,” he added.

The JP merger plan has caused discomfort within Jubilee, some politicians expressing fear of lack of democratic space and patronage by party chiefs.

Kalonzo said: “You will see how they will abandon the party because they will be outdoing each other in votes’ rigging.”

The Wiper leader extended an olive branch to Amani's Musalia Mudavadi and Narc Kenya's Martha Karua, and asked them to form a united and strong opposition outfit with Cord.

Kalonzo further lauded Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, his Siaya counterpart James Orengo and Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu for leading the Cord team through IEBC reforms talks.

“They did a good job in ensuring there shall be no rigging," he said. "MPs should not embarrass Kenyans."

He addressed supporters after arriving from New York where he was crowned African Dignitary Man of the Year 2016

by global humanitarian organisation, 'We Care for Humanity'.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee on electoral reforms submitted its report last week recommending the formula for sending home the IEBC chiefs.

The report recommended the appointment of new commissioners before the end of September.

Kalonzo expressed optimism in being picked to fly the Cord presidential flag in the 2017 general election.

He said the coalition's co-principals will meet US Secretary of State John Kerry to explain why they want Kenyans troops to withdraw from Somalia.

“We want to explain these things to them so that everybody understands that the way to peace in Africa is never through confrontations and loss of live. You have to negotiate all the way despite hard-line stances,” he said.
