Cord leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto resterday heightened their vote hunt in Coast for their respective coalitions.

Speaking after he opened an ODM office in Msambweni, Raila urged voters in the area to turn out in large numbers and “vote six piece.”

“You should elect all ODM leaders from the MCAs to the President,” he said.

He lashed out at Jubilee saying it can’t be trusted because it is part of the problem. “It is only us who will solve land problems in this region when we take over in 2017,” Raila said.

He said opening the offices was important and should send signals to elected leaders who want to trade their loyalty to other parties that they will not be spared.

His remarks sounded a warning to ODM rebels who have been fighting the party from within.

The former prime minister said aspirants seeking elective positions with ODM will have free and fair primaries.

“Now that we were able to send home the IEBC commissioners for a free and fair election, it is a major boost for us to take up the leadership of this country,” Raila said.

He criticised Jubilee for being corrupt, saying under its leadership, millions of public funds have been misappropriated such as through the NYS and Euro Bond scandals.

The Deputy President on the other side was at the Law Society of Kenya annual conference in Diani where he called on lawyers to support Jubilee.

He later toured Dr Kraft Grounds in Rabai and later in Chonyi, Kaloleni where he inspected road projects.

He said the majorthreat to political parties’ democracy is nominations and that is why President Uhuru Kenyatta and himself are proposing that IEBC conducts Jubilee Party nominations.

“Those opposed to this are used to the business of selling certificates. Our position as Jubilee is to merge with parties and form a serious national party. A party that can’t be subjected to blackmail by a few individuals,” Ruto said.

Ruto said the government was committed to work with the legal profession.

Raila was accompanied by Kilifi Woman Rep Aisha Jumwa, Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori, Kinango aspiring MP Benjamin Tayari, MP Mishi Mboko, Matuga ODM chairman Hassan Chitembe, gubernatorial aspirant Nicholas Zani, among other leaders.
