A German national and a Kenyan are feared dead after they drowned on Wednesday while swimming at Hill park hotel beach in Diani.

Kurt Deck, 50, and Felix Odongo, 29, are said to have drowned while rescuing other colleagues who were overwhelmed by strong winds.

Red Cross has undertaken a rescue operation to retrieve their bodies.

Program assistant manager Mohamed Said told the Star on phone that the victims were swept by heavy sea waves while wimming.

He said security and county government officials are assisting with rescue operations.

Kwale police boss Patrick Oduma said they are investigating the matter.

The hotel management declined to comment on the incident.
