A 32 year-old man was remanded at Nakuru GK prison after he killed his daughter, 6, and injured his one year-old son following a disagreement with the wife over a cup of milk.

The man surrendered himself at the Tangi Tano administration police post after which he was taken to Elementaita police station and later arraigned in Nakuru on Wednesday.

The children's mother said that her husband picked a quarrel after she declined to serve him milk which she intended to feed the children.

"It was on Saturday night when my husband came home and said he wanted to drink milk that was meant for the children. Upon refusal, he became angry and started hurling insults on me," she said.

She was beaten up before the man hit their daughter with a hammer on the head. He then burnt the one year- old child using a jiko. The girl child died instantly.

The woman said that she fled to her parents home within Tangi Tano area having realised her life was in danger.

The child who survived the ordeal was rushed to Nairobi women's hospital, Nakuru branch by police who visited the crime scene.
