It is

time Kenyans changed their attitude and elected a president from one of the minority communities,

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has said.

Joho has roots in the Swahili community whose members number about 112,000 in Kenya.

"The day Kenya will have a president from the minority communities, the country will be more united than ever," he said.

He added that he will do better at pulling Kenyans together if elected president in 2022.

Deputy President William Ruto has also declared he will vie for the top seat that year.

The Governor, who is also ODM deputy party leader, said he has the same chances of becoming president as Ruto and any others.

Joho noted his was a humble background but the rose

through life’s ranks to become what he is today.

Humility, he said, is what makes one successful.

"Do not mistreat the people you see on the roads directing traffic. Do not insult that PSV operator. One day you will find yourself in one of those PSVs," he told PSV

operators at Darajani hotel on Thursday.

"I have a chase car right now but I do not disturb other road users. I had a chase car while I was MP. I have a Chase car now that I am governor and I will have a chase car when I become president."

Joho said his critics have been laughing at his presidential ambition but that they will be surprised when they see him being sworn in at State House in 2022.

He asked those in positions of power not to boast about them as they will not hold those positions forever.

The outspoken county chief has been at loggerheads with the presidency matters including Uhuru's visits to the county.

He recently criticised the formation of Jubilee Party, the vehicle Uhuru and Ruto plan to use for their re-election in 2017.

Joho said the soon-to-be-launched party will not be different as it will be made up of the same people.
