President Uhuru Kenyatta has once again advised students to embrace dialogue in solving problems instead of resorting to destruction of property.

Referring to school fires, Uhuru emphasised the need for young people to cultivate the habit of following proper channels in addressing their issues.

“The best way to resolve problems is sitting down and having dialogue. That is one of the reasons there are student councils which are supposed to provide an avenue through which you can air your views,” he said.

Uhuru said students, as future leaders, should work hard in their studies to acquire skills that will enable them perform leadership roles effectively.

But he said “Our lives are not dependent on the grades we get in schools but on God and the good morals we cultivate."

“Life does not end by exams. Failing exams is not the end of the world but could be a door to another opportunity."

He spoke at State House in Nairobi on Friday when he handed over seven buses to six schools and a college.

Uhuru handed over the buses in fulfillment of a pledge to learning institutions he visited on different occasions.

Among those that benefited were Chilchilla Secondary School (Kepkelion), Uhuru Kenyatta High School (Kabiyet in Eldama Ravine) and St Mary’s Sosio Girls High School (Bungoma).

Others were Elburgon Secondary School in Molo, State House Primary School in Nairobi, Wajir Girls' Secondary School and Kericho Teachers' Training College.

Wajir Girls' received a four-wheel drive vehicle because of the rough terrain in the county.

The students were accompanied by their teachers and members of their boards of governors.

Also present were Governors Benjamin Cheboi (Baringo) and Kenneth Lusaka (Bungoma) and Wajir Senator Abdirahman Ali.

Others were MPs Moses Lesonett (Eldama Ravine), Abbass Mohammed (Wajir East), Abdikadir Ore (Wajir West) and Abdullahi Mohamed Diriye (Wajir South).
