Phones distributor Midcom to spend Sh5bn on new stores

Electronics and mobile phone seller Midcom Group plans to spend $50 million (Sh5 billion) over the next three years to establish 1,700 outlets across Africa, managing director Akash Kumar has said.

The company which has retail stores in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana and Togo wants to open more stores to increase sales volumes of mobile phone handsets in the continent.

“Midcom Group is synonymous with mobile and electronics distribution across Africa; we pride ourselves in providing deep distribution infrastructure which has seen us become a strategic partner for leading global players such as Microsoft, Apple, Huawei, HTC, Alcatel and Techno," Kumar said.
