Kenya Athletics team manager major Michael Rotich might be sanctioned by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya if he is found guilty of allegations of bribery and doping.

Chief executive officer Japhter Rugut said on Monday that the agency has commenced investigations into the allegations for possible anti-doping rule violation.

"If found within violation of the rules he will be subjected to sanctions and any other disciplinary measures in line with anti-doping rules," Rugut said in a statement.

Rotich is accused of demanding a bribe of £10,000 (Sh1.3 million) after warning a British coach about imminent doping tests.

On Saturday, the track and field manager was recalled from the Olympic village in Rio de Janeiro.

Sports CS Hassan Wario issued the order.

Adak said the Directorate of Criminal Investigation will follow the necessary due process to establish whether or not Rotich committed the crime as per the Kenyan Criminal Law and Anti-Doping Act, and prosecute the matter in court accordingly.

"We would like to assure our athletes and Kenyans that these allegations are indeed grave and we will spare no effort in ensuring that any individual associated with doping faces justice," the statement added.
