Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday donated Sh600,000 to help two widows from Nyatike constituency buy parcels of land.

Ruto was on a tour at Osiri gold mines in the area during the launch of last mile electricity connectivity project that will cost Sh50million for the constituency.

While visiting the homes of Eunia Acholla and Juliet Otieno, who had benefited from free demonstration connection, the widows aired their problems.

"The two said they are squatting on these parcels of land, and they requested me to buy them the land," the DP said.

Ruto gave Migori county commissioner Idd Matata the amount in cash, instructing for the land to be bought abd the two women moved within a month.

"They said an acre costs around Sh70,000 and they should each get four acres to move to," Ruto added.

The DP also donated Sh1million to build a laboratory at the Osiri Mixed Secondary School.

Earlier, area Macalder-Kanyarwanda MCA Eric Gogo told the DP that the region lacks title deeds and urged him to push through the agenda.

Ruto said government has already processed 14,000 title deeds for Nyatike and said the Lands CS Jacob Kaimenyi will visit the region soon to issue them out.
