Twelve students of
Lang'ata Boys' High School, Nairobi, have been charged with burning its buildings and destroying property worth Sh5.4 million.
The students denied five counts of conspiring to commit a felony and arson before senior principal magistrate Martha Mutuku on Tuesday.

State counsel Duncan Ondimu had asked the court to consider the seriousness of the matter in granting the students bond.
Ondimu had also urged the court to direct the parents of three students, who are minors, to submit copies of their identity cards to court.
But the defence asked for lenient terms saying the accused were not a flight risk and that they would abide with all conditions of release.
Mutuku released them all
on Sh200,000 bond or Sh100,000 cash bail each. She
directed police to arrest one student who did not show up for the mention of the case.
The students were accused of committing the offence, with others not before court, on July 7 and 24. They allegedly conspired to burn two classrooms and a dormitory.
They were also charged with unlawfully and willfully
setting the buildings on fire on July 10 at about 12.30pm. The facilities that were destroyed were Form Four
Blue, Form Three Blue and the Raila dormitory block.
The case will be mentioned on August 16.
