Malindi deputy county commissioner Gideon Ombongi has assured Muslims of security during the month of Ramadhan. He said security has been increased to ensure Muslims conduct their fasting period without any interference.Ombongi said security officers will patrol day and night to ensure peace is maintained.
He spoke during Mfungo Cup finals sponsored by politician Rashid Odhiambo at Malindi Beach Stadium on Saturday.Ombongi urged Muslims to furnish police with information of suspected criminals.
“We don’t expect thieves to steal in houses at night, Muslims faithful will be awake and expect maximum cooperation from police," he said.
Anti-drug abuse crusader Famau Mohamed said it was through such initiatives that could move away youths from drugs. The winners in the tournament received Sh10,000 and a goat while the second got Sh5,000 and a goat also.
