Opala, principal of the school in Vihiga county, issued the directive in a letter on Thursday.

Opala raised concerns over the image portrayed to students who are not allowed to wear make-up.

Noting they have accused teachers of misleading them in the area, she said they must become role models.

“I write to inform you that we are finding it very difficult to correct some students in our school over the matter. They are pointing at us as the ones leading them into doing this," she said in the letter.

“Let us remain proper role models to the girls in all ways. Remember your outlook is not your up look,"

Opala said the teachers can wear make-up while off duty.
