An Embu ACK pastor who allegedly defiled his seven-year-old niece says he is unable to stand trial because he has been mentally unstable ever since his house was burnt down.

He yesterday said he is traumatised because he has no alternative shelter. The cleric alleges the complainant’s family torched his house.

Through his lawyer Wairimu Gichangi, he sought an adjournment of the hearing.

Gichangi told senior resident magistrate Samuel Mutai her client needs counselling for a month.

Mutai accepted the request and fixed the hearing for July 7.
