Jubilee leaders have promised to mobilise more than 100 MPs to attend the Uhuru Park prayer meeting on Madaraka Day. The move sets the stage for a clash between them and Cord supporters, who claim to have booked the grounds.

Speaking in Mai Mahiu, Naivasha, the leaders denied they cancelled the meeting in favour of Cord. Lucy Ngunjiri of Prayers Beyond Boundaries Ministries, which claims to have booked the park, says the meeting will proceed.

Ngunjiri refused to address the press and instead directed them to the political leaders. Kiharu MP Irungu Kang’ata said the venue was booked in early May by the church, which paid Sh150,000 to the Nairobi county government. “We plan to mobilise MPs to attend this prayer rally while the other legislators will accompany the President to Nakuru,” he said.
