A boda boda rider was knocked down on Saturday in an accident on Waiyaki way at the Sky Park junction.

Eye witnesses say the rider was trying to overtake a lorry at Safaricom House before he was hit by another vehicle.

The man, who the Star could not identify by press time, was allegedly overtaking on the wrong side.

The 3pm accident caused a snarl up on waiyaki way before police came to the scene.

Passersby were heard moaning the horrendous scene of the rider groaning in pain in wait for help.

This comes amid alarm from National Transport and Safety Authority of the increasing numbers of unqualified boda boda operators.

Meja said boda boda crashes were increasing at an alarming rate and currently they were second cause of death in road crashes.
