Cord has promised polls agency commissioners of a sendoff package and full benefits if they voluntarily heed calls to vacate office.
Wiper leader and Cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka said Cord will make sure the commissioners get their dues and will not be prosecuted.
“They will have acted like statesmen and women,” Kalonzo said.
“However, the offer only applies to commissioners who were not implicated in the "Chickengate" scandal.
Kalonzo said IEBC commissioners linked to the scandal must pay for their crimes.
The former Vice President said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is highly tainted and cannot conduct credible, free and fair general elections and thus they should consider the offer to resign.
Kalonzo said there is enough time to replace the current IEBC commissioners and give new ones time to prepare to manage the 2017 polls effectively.
He said the opposition will not accept any changes on the election date as proposed by the speaker of the national assembly Justin Muturi.
“We have one year and three months to next general elections which will be held on the August 8 2017” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo was speaking in Kikima, Makueni County during a funds raiser to purchase a school bus for Kitundu Day and Boarding Primary school in Kikima, Mbooni constituency.
He was accompanied by Makueni senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior, women rep Rose Museo and area MP Daniel Maanzo.
Others were MPs Marcus Muluvi (Kitui East), Jessica
Mbalu (Kibwezi East) and Machakos women rep Susan Musyoka, and a host of MCAs.
The Wiper leader said the ruling term of the current government could only be extended through a referendum and therefore the speaker’s assertion is unacceptable.
“An extra day for Jubilee in power is a painful day for this country,” he said.
