Western countries want to block Kenya out of the 2016 Olympics, say MPs

MPs yesterday turned their anger at the Western countries for allegedly targeting Kenya in the world anti-doping requirements, saying the compliance window was unrealistic.

Majority leader Aden Duale said the rush to have Kenya comply with the World Anti-Doping Agency deadlines was suspect and only served to lock the country out of the Olympics in Brazil.

“Britain has not complied with this deadline, only France has. We are the only country in Africa to comply. Why are we the only one being given the deadlines. Tanzania has not been given and it is clear that we have a lot of enemies in the world,” he said.

The MPs said the anti-doping mess is a creation of the West to clip African countries that have been topping in the World Olympics championships. Kipipiri MP Samuel Gichigi said the government will not be deterred by the huddles created against its athletes and will continue supporting them.
