Kakamega county director of Education Susan Murerwa has termed attempts by Butere ACK Bishop Timothy Wambunya to access Butere Girls’ High School accounts “illegal”. On Tuesday, Wambunya held a meeting with some school board members. Principal Damaris Atieno was not present.

On Wednesday, Wambunya visited the school with private auditors seeking to audit the financial records. Yesterday, he admitted carting away some files from the finance office. But Murerwa said the school finances can only be audited by the Education ministry. “Strangers, including the bishop, are not allowed to access school financial records and accounts. What the bishop is doing is a waste of time,” she said.
