The government has suspended three chiefs over crime and land related violence in Kerio Valley, where 10 people have been killed and 1,000 displaced.
Rift Valley regional coordinator Wanyama Musiambo has warned others that they will be sacked for underperforming.
The suspended include Alfred Biwott (Koibirir), Jackson Kiptoo (Kapyego) and Kaben assistant chief Alfrick Kiprop.
Musiambo led government officials to the troubled area last Saturday to resolve the land crisis.
The government threatened to impose a curfew to stop fighting between two clans.
Musiambo said a security operation would launched unless the clans make peace.
All politicians from Elgeyo Marakwet county attended a security meeting in the area last Saturday.
