Bungoma county commissioner Mohamed Maalim has been transferred to Mombasa, replacing Evans Achoki.

He has served in Bungoma since May 2013. Maalim was replaced by Joshua Chepchieng, who was Migori county commissioner. Maalim was posted to Bungoma after a gang attacked residents in Kikwechi village, Kabuchai subcounty, and maimed more than 60 others in April 2013.

He was instrumental in wiping out the dreaded Sabaot Land Defence Forces militia in Mt Elgon and parts of Bungoma town. Speaking in his office yesterday, Maalim said he is grateful for the time he has been in Bungoma and worked well with the county government.

He warned the Wakali Wao and Wakali Kwanza gangs in Mombasa that he will wipe them out like he did SLDF. Chepchieng urged the county government, through Governor Kenneth Lusaka and other elected leaders, to work with him.
