Cord should apologise to the residents of Nairobi and the entire country over IEBC protests, Majority Leader Aden Duale has said.
He said the opposition
should never have gone to the streets in the first place adding that "the
talks can begin now".
"They should not just suspend the violent demonstrations. They should stop them forthwith and apologise," Duale said in a statement on Wednesday.
Duale who is also the Garissa township MP said Cord leaders must take responsibility for the "deaths, injuries, looting and destruction of property" in the last three weeks.
Three
in Siaya and Kisumu on Monday following confrontations between police and protesters.
"They have proved - if any proof were needed - that this country, peace and stability are vocabularies that do not exist in their dictionaries," Duale said.
He said the opposition
knows what should be done with the IEBC commissioners.
"If Cord was interested in discussions over the IEBC, dialogue has been on the table at the joint Justice and Legal Affairs committee of the National Assembly and Senate," he added.
The opposition temporarily against the IEBC and gave government 10 days to respond to dialogue calls.
On Wednesday,
Senators James Orengo and Johnstone Muthama said they want to resolve the stalemate amicably.
"We want peace. We have listened to international community and religious groups. Jubilee has until June 5, 2016 to respond to dialogue calls," the opposition said.
Cord wants IEBC commissioners out of office before the 2017 general elections.
Heads of foreign missions on Tuesday said Kenyans must take every opportunity for
on the IEBC stalemate.
