After bagging a deal with an American music label recently, Atlanta-based Kenyan R&B and Afro-fusion songstress Mercy Myra is back in the news.

A new song leak from the Marobo hit singer has hit the web.

This comes soon after an otherwise ugly episode in her life following the tumultuous divorce from rapper and hubby, Attitude.

Our sources intimate that her label executives were in the planning stages to release the studio single, Feels Like Love, in mid-July this year, but someone internally pulled the trigger much earlier.

The rap version features rapper Pistyle on 8 bars in a conversation with Mercy as the embodiment of music.

In the song, Mercy weaves in lyrics from her native tongue.

She got signed up by the American stable Nu Royal Records earlier this year.

"After her divorce and many challenges, she had to return to her first love," says the label.

It adds: "The music within her has always been faithful through it all. It is indeed a joy to see Mercy dancing again; but even more powerful to see how the new music is quickly relating to new fans."

"Knowing the style of Nu Royal, there are likely a couple of other strong players working behind the scenes to reintroduce Mercy Myra to her fans along with her formal introduction to mainstream radio," adds the label.

According to her, she draws her musical influences from African music queens including Miriam Makeba, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Angelique Kidjo.

Others are European and American artistes like Ella Fitzgerald, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Millie Jackson, Luther Vandross, Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Sade and India Arie.

"I would love to collaborate with India," she once said, adding that "her vocals take me to heaven… That’s how angelic I feel about her voice."

Feels Like Love is the first taste off her upcoming album.
