Nine charged with taking part in Cord demos

Nine people have been charged with

taking part in "unlawful assembly" during

Cord's Monday protests against the IEBC.

James Mungao and eight others appeared before Senior principal Magistrate Joyce Gandani in Milimani Law court on Tuesday.

They denied the charges.

The nine were freed on

a bond of Sh10,000 each and an alternative cash bail of Sh2,000 each.

On Monday, two people died in Siaya in demonstrations while another succumbed to bullet wounds in Kisumu.

Several people were seriously injured in Homa Bay as police battled Cord supporters planning to storm the IEBC offices in the county.

Two women were reported to be in critical condition after sustaining bullet wounds.

A number of people were injured in Kibera, where police engaged demonstrators in running battles.

Sources told the Star that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration is considering parliamentary committee from the government and opposition ranks to address issues raised by the opposition.
