Kenyan pop singer Jaguar wants to make a positive impact for people in the slums.

On Thursday, the Kigeugeu hit-maker was at Nairobi's Mukuru Kwa Reuben for charity.

He donated foodstuffs to various women's groups during his visit.

Jaguar, who is also a director at the anti-drugs body NACADA, also donated assorted sport equipments to the youth in the area.

He stated that empowering the youth through sports and performing arts not only helps them harness their talents, but prevents them from getting involved in crime, alcohol and drug abuse.

"I am not doing this for anything else but to see that our youth are kept off drugs, alcohol and crime," Jaguar told Word Is.

He added: "We will only keep our people safe, especially the youth, when we keep them engaged in positive activities that would improve their living standards and lifestyles.

"I am doing this for the best interest of our common future as a nation."

The singer promised to impact more lives especially amongst the youth.

Jaguar, who is rumoured to be gunning for a political seat in Nairobi (which he denies), just released a new single titled Going Nowhere with popular South African group Mafikizolo.

"I am not a politician, I am not joining politics either," he says.

"These are things I have been doing in many parts of the country for a long time. It has nothing to do with politics.

"I just want to see change in the society, and people leading a better life."
