The government of Egypt has okayed its Armed Forces to buy fresh and canned meat from Kenya. The Kenya Meat Commission chairman, Josiah Kores, and the Egyptian military attaché in its embassy in Nairobi, Mostafa And El-Kade, met on Friday to fine-tune the deal.

Egyptian government, Kores said, has been negotiating the deal for the last six months. Kores said once a supply contract between the Egyptian military and the KMC is signed, the struggling parastatal will be required to slaughter 50,000 cows every month.

El-Kade made an extensive tour of the plant in Athi River before having a joint press conference with Kores and the commission’s livestock manager, Sylvester Kyengo.
